Warwickshire Children and Family Centres

Our vision is to work together with our partners to enable every child in Warwickshire to have the best start in life through a whole family approach that builds independence, resilience and ensures that services are accessible, proportionate and seamless based on need.

Children & Family Centre Services in Warwickshire include the following core elements:

  1. Coordination and administration of the designated Children & Family Centres and associated outreach provision;
  2. Provision of a range of stay, play and learning opportunities;

Building of capacity and resilience within communities (especially those geographical communities in which the Children & Family Centre and outreach venues are located), including increased use of volunteers in service delivery.

The service is part of the County Council’s “stepped approach” to delivering support and will deliver a seamless, integrated service for families with children and young people.

The service is available to families with children and young people pre-birth to 19 (or 25 for those with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities), however there is a particular focus on the 1001 critical days, from conception until the age of 2.

The service is tailored to local need, with specific provision based on in-depth understanding of the local communities it serves.

Children & Family Centre Services offer a balance of universal and targeted services to build resilience in Warwickshire families and improve the life chances of children, either through providing (or enabling the provision) of:

Universal – services which support the whole population and are designed to promote independence and resilience, helping families achieve positive outcomes (as set out in this service specification).

Targeted – services which offer specific support for those children, young people and families who are felt to be vulnerable and at risk of not achieving positive outcomes (see outcomes below)  Services may be targeted towards a particular subset of families based on where they live, or they may be targeted based on meeting other criteria, e.g. low income, disability or black, minority or ethnic group

The service has strong links with a range of other services that play a role in identifying families that may benefit from Children & Family Centre service, as well as work in partnership supporting customer outcomes. For example, partners delivering their services from centres, sharing of service information and effective signposting. These include, but not limited to:
