Bumps to Babies: Antenatal sessions

Welcome to the Bumps to Babies antenatal sessions.

We have developed four short videos to provide you with information and advice from birth through the early stages of parenthood.

The four video offer advice and information around:

Becoming a parent

This video offers really useful advice on navigating the early stages of parenthood.

It covers bonding and attachment, early development, the importance of tummy time and car safety and containers, as well as offering advice around pet safety, oral health and healthy diet.

The video will also picks up on the importance of healthy relationships, and the role this plays in raising a happy healthy baby.

Labour and pain relief

This video will help you to write your birth plan and consider your options for labour.

You will want to include details on who your birth partner is, the type of pain relief you would like, whether you are comfortable with a student midwife being involved and who you want to cut the cord. It will also offer guidance around things like skin to skin and how you want to feed your baby once they arrive.

Infant feeding

This video gives you all the information you need to help you decide how you will to feed your baby.

It includes information about breastfeeding, expressing and formula feeding, while also covering the practicalities of feeding and how to make it work for you and your family.

Baby care

Caring for your baby can seem like a step into the unknown, so this video gives you some useful tips and advice to help with this.

It covers why babies cry, and how you can help them, as well as offering advice on looking after your emotional wellbeing and your relationship once your little one arrives.

The video also provides really important information around safer sleeping and what you can do to keep your baby safe.

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust runs a confidential secure text messaging service for parents of children aged 0-19 years called Chat Health. The service operates Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, excluding bank holidays. All texts will be responded to by a public health nurse (health visitor/school nurse) within 24 hours. Outside of the service working hours, you’ll receive a message back to inform you that your text will be responded to once the line reopens.
