Your Midwife will let your Specialist Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) know that you’re expecting a baby. Health Visitors work with children and young people aged 0-5 years and their families.

You will receive a text message when you are around 24 weeks pregnant with information on how to access the Health for Under 5’s website and to invite you to book onto a preparation for parenthood session. You may be embarking on your parenthood journey or expanding your family, our sessions are inclusive for both parents to be and existing parents.

The session facilitates the opportunity for you to meet others that are in the same stages of pregnancy, the ideal time to attend a session is between 28-32 weeks of pregnancy. Topics covered include:

  • Who we are as a Health Visiting Service and what support we offer.
  • Relationship building with your baby, from pregnancy and beyond.
  • Infant feeding
  • Baby brain development
  • Safe sleep guidance

If you would like to speak to the health visiting team about this contact, to book a place, or for any advice and support you can call the duty line on 01296 838000 (option 6, then listen to the options offered and pick your local area).

Additionally, your Health visitor will contact you after your baby is born between 10-14 days.
