Infant Feeding Support -Sussex Health for under 5s.

The Healthy Child Programme in West Sussex was one of the first in the Southeast to receive a Unicef UK Baby Friendly Gold award, which recognises excellent and sustained practice in the support of infant feeding and parent-infant relationships. We continue to hold the GOLD Award and are always striving for excellence. We are currently working towards this award in Brighton and Hove. The Healthy Child Programme staff are all trained and experienced in supporting infant feeding and breast feeding and can offer individualised feeding support and care plans. At each contact, you have the opportunity to discuss your own feeding journey with a member of the HCP who will always be happy to help.

In addition to this, we also have MILK! clinics running across West Sussex and Brighton and Hove. Our MILK! clinics are friendly face to face drop-ins (no appointment needed) and are open to all for any help you need with feeding or just have a chat with other breastfeeding mothers. You are welcome to attend any MILK! Clinic across West Sussex or Brighton and Hove. We are supported to run our MILK! clinics by our team of peer supporters. These are volunteers who have undertaken training to provide mother to mother breastfeeding support.

Infant Feeding Team.

The infant feeding team is a specialist team working alongside the Healthy Child Programme in both West Sussex and Brighton and Hove. The team consists of Specialist Health Visitors, Community Nursery Nurses and Lactation Consultants.

The team can provide 1-1 support for complex and persistent breastfeeding/infant feeding challenges. We also support colleagues and provide education and training to Healthy child programme staff. Referrals are accepted via your health visitor.
