Safer Sleep Week 2025 takes place from 10th-16th March.
Safer Sleep Week is The Lullaby Trust’s national awareness campaign targeting anyone looking after a young baby. It aims to raise awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and the simple advice that reduces the risk of it occurring.
Safer sleep experts say greater awareness of safer sleep leads to a decrease in the numbers of babies dying.
Sadly around 3 babies a week still die from SIDS and if all parents were aware of safer sleep advice many lives could be saved. Around 700,000 babies are born every year in the UK and the Lullaby Trust needs to continue to reach out to all new parents with its life-saving messages.
Safer Sleep Week 2025 will focus on what baby sleep should look like, versus when you may want to seek advice. It will also bust the common myths that are seen online surrounding baby sleep, and support you with ways to help when you’re feeling sleep deprived.
The Lullaby Trust would love you to get involved with Safer Sleep Week! Here are some of the common ways people join in:
- Displaying their posters to raise awareness
- Fundraising
- ‘Liking’ and sharing their social media content
- Posting about #SaferSleepWeek on social media
- Signing up to be a Lullaby GEM (Gives Every Month), to help them reach as many families as possible with their life-saving safer sleep advice
- Hold a Pyjama Day in your local nursery or childcare group
