The BHT Integrated Public Health Nursing Team, have created a series of news posts about helping your child get ready for school. These focus on communication, behaviour, wellbeing and toileting.

School readiness starts at birth with the support of parents and caregivers, when young children acquire the social and emotional skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for success in school and life. School readiness at age five has a strong impact on future educational attainment and life chances.

We have created this handy self checklist to help you focus on areas to support your child, so they can be ready to learn when they start school. It is focused on your child’s overall health and wellbeing at this important time in their life

Please  click here to access the link to the checklist:- BHT School Readiness Checklist April 2025 v5. This can  guide you and get support or advice to help you and your child.
