Health Visitor teams in West Sussex and Brighton & Hove support immunisations.
Immunisation is one of the best ways to protect your child from potentially life-threatening illnesses and diseases. You will be sent invitations for your child’s immunisations appointment after registering with your GP surgery.
The importance of maintaining a good coverage of childhood immunisations has continued to be a priority since the Covid 19 pandemic and was highlighted in June 2022 with the detection of Poliovirus in sewage in London. Following this all children aged between one and nine years old living in London will be offered a booster dose of the Polio vaccine. More information on this can be found on the government website.
The risk of contracting polio remains very small but all parents – especially those with children aged five or under should ensure their young ones are vaccinated against polio. Parents are advised to check their child’s Red Book or contact their GP surgery if they are unsure of their immunisation status. It is not too late to catch up.
