Introducing solid foods

Introducing your baby to Solid Foods.

Research shows babies can get all the nutrients they need from breast milk or infant formula until they are ready for food and babies having breast milk alone until 6 months will have extra protection against infection.
There are 3 clear signs which, together, show your baby is ready to gradually start some solid foods as well as their breast milk or infant formula: 1. They can stay in a sitting position and hold their head steady. 2. They can grab something, pick it up and put it in their mouth all by themselves. 3. They can swallow food rather than spit it out.All babies are individuals and this is a guide only. It is a really important step in your baby’s development and it can be great fun to explore new flavours and textures together.
