Your child’s two year development review

You will be contacted by your health visiting team when your child is between 2 and 2 and a half years old.

During this contact you will be able to discuss:

  • Your child’s development, behaviour and toilet training- how you can support your child in their development and growing independence
  • Your child’s health, including diet, vaccinations and oral health- how you can support your child’s health with a varied healthy diet, regular teeth brushing and the importance of attending vaccination appointments
  • Early years education- how to access funding and the benefits of your child attending an early year’s setting
  • Family environment and safety in the home- how your home environment supports your child’s development and the importance of maintaining safety
  • Emotional health and wellbeing- how you feel and how you are coping

This could include completing a questionnaire known as the Ages and Stages questionnaire, or ASQ.

Health Visitors can offer further support if needs are identified. You can find out more about the additional support available here.

You can find more advice and information in the ‘Your child at two’ collection.

If you would like to speak to the health visiting team about this contact, you can call the Healthy Together Helpline on 0300 300 3001, or you can get in touch via our confidential text messaging service, ChatHealth; details of which you can see below:

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust runs a confidential secure text messaging service for parents of children aged 0-19 years called Chat Health. The service operates Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, excluding bank holidays. All texts will be responded to by a public health nurse (health visitor/school nurse) within 24 hours. Outside of the service working hours, you’ll receive a message back to inform you that your text will be responded to once the line reopens.

Should you require urgent health advice in the meantime, please contact your GP, visit an NHS walk-in centre or call NHS 111. For emergencies, dial 999 or visit A&E.
