Sessions empower parents to share experiences, learn new skills and practice these alongside other parents.
Free parenting courses on the theme of Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities are being made available to couples, carers and family members across Nottinghamshire.
What is EPEC?
Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities (EPEC) is a volunteer-led, evidence-based parenting programme. Each session is delivered by two Parent Group Leaders (PGLs) who have received 60 hours training to deliver EPEC courses. Sessions aim to empower parents to share experiences, learn new skills and practice these alongside other parents. There are 2 courses which are available both face-to-face and via MS Teams, so offer variety and flexibility depending on childcare/parent commitments:
- ‘Being a Parent’ – 9, 2-hour sessions over 9 weeks
- * ‘Being a parent together’ – 10, 2-hour sessions over 10 weeks
Who is it suitable for?
Any couples, parents, carers or family members who care for children under 12. Parents are supported and encouraged to try new parenting techniques each week and share the outcomes with other parents.
